Newgate clocks are British through and through. Housed in a former Laura Ashley factory in England, working on rescued 1940's-vintage desks and furniture, and headed by the husband-and-wife team of Jim and Chloe Read, the team of Newgate designers strives to, as they say, keep Great British Design alive. The clocks are vintage in inspiration, but filtered through a modern sensibility and are certainly not merely copies of old clocks. The design sense of Newgate has made their clocks a favorite in the worlds of fashion and celebrity.

This dapper little chap (just 2.5" in diameter) was designed with a nineteenth-century pocket watch in mind, and given a touch of modernism along with a sprinkling of Newgate charm to become an ideal accessory for modern day living. This clock was used in a photo shoot with Jemma Powell in OK! magazine. She played Margaret in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland film. The back opens to serve as a stand; when closed it looks just like a slightly oversized pocket watch. The case, hands, fob, and base are metal with a faux-aged dial and an acrylic lens and it comes with a black drawstring travel bag. The digital alarm ascends in volume and the quartz mechanism is powered by a single LR44 battery (not included).
